Notes
- All his siblings called him Bud. His nieces and nephews called him Uncle Bud.
The name is spelled as Carthal in the Family Group Sheet from HaroldK Christian. Two childhood censuses list him as Carthel. The cemetery listing gives the spelling as Carthal. This is one indication thatthis was the spelling used by the family. In May 2009, Bud's son Carthal Trent contacted me and his spelling of his name confirmed the correct spelling of Carthal.
Bud's gravestone has only the initial C. In May 2007, Lou Ila Jenkins found some old family notes she wrote down, probably in the 1950s, but they contain no date or source info. This has the name of Bud andhis son Trent spelled as Carthal. I found the Bud's death information from Bell County, Texas, also spells his name Carthal.
In 1920 He is recorded as Author C, and as Carthel in 1930.

In the 1930 census, Bud was reported in his parents' household in Mt View, Oklahoma. His age is given as 10 in the January census. This would seem to indicate he was born in 1909, and the date of birth from family sources is 28 December 1909. However, there is no child corresponding to Arthur in the 1910 census. Rhonda Faye is the last child reported in 1910.

Bud's son Trent tells me that Bud worked for his older brother Asa inAsa's appliance business before WWII. Both Bud and his younger brother Orville worked at Tinker field Air Force Base in Midwest City (Oklahoma City) during World War II. Bud and Eyline were living in the Oklahoma City area and Orville lived with them a while during that wartime work in the City. Bud's son Michael Thomas was born in Oklahoma City in 1943.
After the war, Bud moved back to Chickasha, Oklahoma, where his daughter LaRhonda Eyline was born. Bud's son (my first cousin) Trent gave me the birthplaces for himself and his siblings and their mother Eyline Lynch. In Chickasha Bud had a Maytag dealership in next door to the City Hall and Police Department. Bud shared the building with his brother, my father Orville Lee Jenkins, who ran a radio sales and repair business, until the early 1950s. A picture of the building where the Jenkins Furniture Store in Anadarko was located is found online:

I found listings for them in the 1947 Chickasha City Directory.

Arthur Carthal (Bud) was ill for some time before he died. He was still living in Chickasha, Grady County, Oklahoma, at the time of his death. Other family sources, including my cousin and Bud's nephew Harold K Christian, have no place of death, but report the date.
However, I found out in May 2007, from his nephew Asa Lee, that he died in Temple, Texas, while in the Scott White Hospital. I later foundthe record in the Texas Death Index. His heart was weak from the effects of rheumatic fever he suffered as a child. He decided not to go through the operation to repair or replace one of the valves in his heart. He died on 24 January 1955.
Bud was buried in Fairlawn Cemetery in Chickasha. Though Bud is buried in a plot for two, the second place is unused. His wife Eyline married a second time to Wayne Wornom. They moved to Oklahoma City some years later, and Eyline apparently passed away and was buried there inanother family plot. As of September 2009 I have not found the burial information for Eyline Lynch Wornom.
The Texas Death Index, 1903-2000, reports Bud's death on Certificate 47522
Arthur Carthal Jenkins, Death 19 Oct 1955 Bell County
The date of death here is given as the date of burial in the FairlawnCemetery records in Chickasha.
